Animal Print Seems To Be A Trend Every Season–moncler kids

Animal Print Seems To Be A Trend Every Season

Animal prints seem to have been a basic constant over the last few seasons in womens fashion.  They keep showing up on runway shows and eventually in the stores every season.   Jenna Lyons of J Crew once said: “As far as I’m concerned, moncler moka leopard is a neutral”.

Fall 2014 is not any different and everywhere you turn you see some kind of animal print item, moncler ski jacket from jackets to bags and shoes, moncler jacket sale they are everywhere with a designers new twist.  I wanted to share with you some of my favorite animal print pieces for fall 2014 and also give you a couple of tips in how to buy and wear animal print jackets and coats for your wardrobe.

Here are my tips in how to wear them:

  1. Stick to one animal print piece in your outfit.  If you are wearing a jacket or coat in an animal print, moncler down jacket do not add an animal print bag or shoes to the same outfit.
  2. Stick to wearing animal prints with neutral colors like black, monclere brown, moncler canada camel or grey and let the print be the focus of your outfit.
  3. You can also mix animal prints with other prints like floral or checks or stripes, moncler kids but make sure the sizes for each pattern is different in scale. For example a big leopard print coat will work well with a small floral print top and a solid bottom.
  4. You can try colorful combos, moncler milano but I would wear those with neutrals in the bottom and not a bright color bottom.

I hope these are helpful hints and please let me know your thoughts on animal prints.

Below you can see some of my favorites Pictures from recent runway shows and a few choices for you to shop from some of my favorite stores.

Also I wanted to let you know that I am super excited to join Allison Lumbatis again from  Getyourprettyon.com for her “The winter/holiday 2014 style me pretty challenge”.

A More Femine Way To Wear The Avery Jacket

As you know I like to show the jackets that I design on my blog styled in different ways so my clients can see how to wear them. I also do this for other jackets I own, moncler womens coats but more so for the ones I design and sell. The Avery jacket has been one of our best selling jackets for spring. I think the fact that it is so easy and casual to throw on top of any outfit makes it a winner. The beautiful baby blue color doesn’t hurt either. Last time I showed this jacket with my jeans and gladiator heels and made the whole look modern and edgy. This time I wanted to show it in a softer, moncler femme more feminine way. I bought this dress last year from “All Saints” because of its beautiful and interesting draping details. My pictures here do not do it justice and you really have to see it close up. This kind of intricate draping is one of their signatures and they always have beautifully draped and cut silhouettes in their dresses, moncler gilet tops and jackets. Overall, moncler bady their look comes across as young and edgy but there are definite pieces that you can choose and mix within your own wardrobe to make it less edgy. Visiting My Son Wearing The Chelsea Jacket–moncler jacke

Visiting My Son Wearing The Chelsea Jacket

As I mentioned a couple of months ago my son started college at University of Southern California (USC) back in August.  He packed up his things and moved there to stay in the dorms while attending classes.  It has been strange not having him around daily, online fashion store but I am happy to say that he has been coming home regularly almost every weekend or at least for a day on Sundays.  USC is only 12 miles away, moncler polo shirt but there have been times that he has chosen to stay on campus due to a football game, moncler coat too much homework or of course “a party”. When this happens, moncler femme I am prepared and I make a point to meet him for lunch or dinner near the University or in downtown Los Angeles area.  This is very familiar territory for me being in the fashion industry, moncler down jacket everything I need from fabrics to trims, moncler outlet online contractors and patternmakers are all located in downtown Los Angeles area, moncler online shop so I know the area well.

Last weekend was one of those weekends he was not coming home, moncler trainers so my husband and I who is also my photographer decided to meet him for an early dinner and squeeze in a photo shoot for the blog at the same time.  We love shooting in downtown Los Angeles, moncler hoodie there are so many great buildings and destinations to choose from.  I wanted to show our Chelsea jacket again which is made of a beautiful red/black hounds tooth fabric.  Reds and burgundies and even blood orange are all trendy colors for fall 2014 and were shown by many designers on the runways earlier this year.  Personally I have always loved red especially for fall/winter.  It is the perfect bright color to work back to black, moncler jacke grey or navy.  I am wearing it here with my skinny black jeans and my brand new Trouve pointy boots.  I thought this would also be a good opportunity to show you how to mix some patterns together so I decided to wear a print top with the hounds tooth jacket and I even threw in a little patterned pocket square.  I have always loved pocket squares for women, they go so well with jackets.  I know mostly men wear them but why not try wearing one as an accessory for a change.  You can still mix in all your jewelry with it as well.

What do you think of this look and would you wear a pocket square?

History Of The Leather Jacket

Earlier this week I showed you a look wearing my favorite leather jacket.  I wanted to continue writing a bit more about leather jackets and a brief history on them.  Also I wanted to share with you some of my favorite leather jacket street style looks and some great leather jacket deals from Nordstrom.

Here are some interesting facts on the history of leather jackets:

  • In early 1900’s brown leather flight jackets were worn by aviators and members of military.
  • During WWII they became known as the “Bomber Jacket”.
  • In 1928 Irving Schott designed the first motorcycle jacket and sold it for $5.50 (that’s right) at a Harley Davidson store in NYC.
  • In 1953 the leather motorcycle jacket reached iconic status after Marlon Brando wore it in the movie “The Wild One”.
  • Soon after James Dean followed by wearing his famous leather jacket in “Rebel Without A Cause” making it the ultimate symbol of cool.
  • In 1960’s this cool factor continued with Steve McQueen wearing his leather jacket with his famous aviator sunglasses.
  • “The Fonz” from Happy Days continued the tradition in 1970’s with wearing his famous leather jacket that is now on display at Smithsonian Institute.
  • The 80’s brought the punk rock look with Blondie and Billy Idol decorating their leather jackets with studs and safety pins.

Today leather jackets are included in all the fashion shows and stores at many different price points and I think I can easily say that almost every woman and man will have at least one leather jacket in their life time.

Below I have picked some of my favorite street style looks showing how different women wear leather jackets.  I have also selected some of my favorite leather jackets from Nordstrom that are on sale right now in case you are looking for a leather jacket.

JACKETS AS ARCHITECTURE – THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO FIELDS Before I decided to go into fashion design and apply to Otis College of Art and Design, online fashion store I was seriously considering going into architecture for a while, moncler kinder but at the end fashion won over.  I have always had an interest in architecture and I truly believe there is a connection between creative people who are drawn to both fields.  There are a lot of parallels between the two, moncler bambino from designing shapes and working with proportions that need to work together to the outside aesthetic of materials that need to be pleasing to the eye, moncler jumper I feel the two fields are related in many ways. That is why when I came across this article about USC 5th year architecture students working on this project called “Truth in Making, moncler coats an Architectural Inquiry”,kids moncler I felt like I had to share it with you all.  I will not explain any more since I am including the whole article and the video for you to see here. I hope you enjoy it and let me know your thoughts on the connection between the two fields.

Its Not Fashion – It’s Architecture – by Allison Engel

The USC School of Architecture students learn the fine points of manufacturing, moncler jacket sale construction, moncler gilet and problem-solving as they craft wearable creations with unusual materials. Look at this project the A jacket made from thumbtacks and caulk. Another created entirely from industrial zippers. Look at this spiky fabric composed of kitchen matches. How about a bumpy fabric of 12,moncler cap244 pencil erasers, moncler jakke sewn one by one in a colorful chevron pattern? These were a few of the solutions that fifth-year USC School of Architecture students devised while creating unique Mao jackets in a studio called “Truth in Making, An Architectural Inquiry.” Fourteen jackets were displayed in an exhibition March 7, and the project attracted off-campus attention, including that of Frances Anderton, host of KCRW’s Design & Architecture program and blog. The assignment from Associate Professor Lee Olvera was clear and brief: Select two materials maximum. Experiment with joinery, creating a skin or “fabric,” testing all potential material properties. After two weeks of speculating about how the materials will perform, select your materials. Once committed, you may not switch. Print out the studio-selected pattern for a Mao jacket, chosen for its conformity and lack of detail. Construct a wearable jacket. You have five weeks, start to finish. “They must think with their hands,” said Olvera, who has given the assignment annually since 2012. “There’s no hiding behind a drawing or a diagram or just waving your arms and saying ‘it’s going to be beautiful.’ If it won’t work, it won’t work. “It’s not Project Runway,” he said. “It’s an exploration of program and function. In architecture, we’re called upon to design the skins of buildings all the time. This project infuses our intuitive skills of artistry and aesthetics with the rigor of analytical and performance-based material experimentation to create innovative working solutions.” Class materials from the hardware store? Past students responded with unlikely materials (orange ear plugs, crayons melted into new shapes, woven rubber bands), and this year’s students continued that tradition, using copper grounding wire, acrylic paint and – appropriately enough – 5,500 round metal pins with Chairman Mao’s face printed on them. (Student Yimeng Wang ordered them from China.) Several came up with time-consuming recipes for turning their raw materials into fabrics. Corey Koczarski started with Rockite, a substance used for patching cracks in concrete. He cast Rockite in silicon molds, experimenting with thicknesses and profile to come up a shape that could be reproduced 4,948 times and linked together. Lillian Lin had no fewer than six steps for turning artist’s gel into the skin of her jacket. She colored the clear gel with fabric paint, spread it on a sheet, scored lines on the surface, dried it, wove the gel into strips, then ironed them flat before shaping her front, back and sleeve pieces. The hours the undergraduates spent in their Watt Hall studio stretched late into the night, early mornings and weekends. Snags developed. Nick Tedesco discovered that it took about 10 hours to hand-sew a square foot of his colored pencil erasers. “Getting the sleeves on was a nightmare,” he said. “You are mentally fatigued working for hours and hours. The erasers rip and tear. “If something looks good on paper and make sense, you can’t be sure it will always work. But you problem-solve. I think a lot of architecture is like that.” Yoonji “Angie” Nam’s unexpected outcome was that the acrylic paint she arranged in circle patterns on Teflon baking sheets took weeks and weeks to dry. When the jackets were displayed March 7, hers appeared as a vest. “I have sleeves but they are not dry,” she explained, brushing white paint from her hair and face. “I think to dry the inside will take one month.” Some surprises were happy ones. Tamar Partamian, who laboriously wove the strands from seven cassette tapes, found that the resulting fabric was much silkier and shinier than expected. “When you see a small individual unit, it’s different from seeing the whole,” she said. Sean Miller, whose thumbtack jacket fell apart days before the exhibition (the caulk wouldn’t hold the smooth metal surface), called the process a struggle. “I think I did learn more being this risky, this extreme and having it fail,” Miller said. “I really pushed myself and learned more than if I picked a safer choice and was more successful. You also have the more difficult and more valuable conversations about your work.” At the exhibition, the designers happily spent hours explaining their projects to onlookers. Several tried on their jackets, proving they could be worn. Calvin Lee, whose lightweight garment of crocheted electronics wire had the most tailoring details (four working pockets with flaps, a pointed collar and buttons), said he was considering wearing his jacket to graduation.

That is why when I came across this article about USC 5th year architecture students working on this project called “Truth in Making, moncler coats an Architectural Inquiry”, kids moncler I felt like I had to share it with you all.

How about a bumpy fabric of 12, moncler cap244 pencil erasersmoncler mens jacket, moncler jakke sewn one by one in a colorful chevron pattern? These were a few of the solutions that fifth-year USC School of Architecture students devised while creating unique Mao jackets in a studio called “Truth in Making, An Architectural Inquiry.” Fourteen jackets were displayed in an exhibition March 7, and the project attracted off-campus attention, including that of Frances Anderton, host of KCRW’s Design & Architecture program and blog. The assignment from Associate Professor Lee Olvera was clear and brief: Select two materials maximum. Experiment with joinery, creating a skin or “fabric, ” testing all potential material properties. After two weeks of speculating about how the materials will perform, select your materials. Once committed, you may not switch. Print out the studio-selected pattern for a Mao jacketonline fashion store, chosen for its conformity and lack of detail. Construct a wearable jacket. You have five weeks, start to finish. “They must think with their hands, ” said Olvera, who has given the assignment annually since 2012. “There’s no hiding behind a drawing or a diagram or just waving your arms and saying ‘it’s going to be beautiful.’ If it won’t work, it won’t work. “It’s not Project Runway, ” he said. Past students responded with unlikely materials (orange ear plugs, crayons melted into new shapes, woven rubber bands), and this year’s students continued that tradition, using copper grounding wire, acrylic paint and – appropriately enough – 5moncler paris, 500 round metal pins with Chairman Mao’s face printed on them. (Student Yimeng Wang ordered them from China.) Several came up with time-consuming recipes for turning their raw materials into fabrics. Corey Koczarski started with Rockite, a substance used for patching cracks in concrete. He cast Rockite in silicon molds, experimenting with thicknesses and profile to come up a shape that could be reproduced 4, 948 times and linked together. “Getting the sleeves on was a nightmare, ” he said. “I have sleeves but they are not dry, ” she explained, brushing white paint from her hair and face. “I think to dry the inside will take one month.” Some surprises were happy ones. Tamar Partamian, who laboriously wove the strands from seven cassette tapes, found that the resulting fabric was much silkier and shinier than expected. “When you see a small individual unitmoncler store, it’s different from seeing the whole, ” she said. Sean Miller, whose thumbtack jacket fell apart days before the exhibition (the caulk wouldn’t hold the smooth metal surface), called the process a struggle. “I think I did learn more being this risky, this extreme and having it fail, ” Miller said.
